Meet Alex. He’s perhaps the most familiar face in the Philippine Eagle Center in Malagos after Pagasa.
Alex is a Brahminy kite. He was slingshot by some unmindful rascal a long time ago and one of his feet had to be amputated as a result. He was surrendered to the center to receive care; he was treated of course but was never able to fly again.
Alex stands in one of the trees near the entrance canopy of the center. It’s almost a decade now since I first met him and he remains a strong living reminder of the need to spread public consciousness on animal welfare.
